Wow well we had a good valentines day. By that I mean we started riding bikes this week and while we were stopping to get mail some girl we’ve never seen before, which is weird because we’re in small little Mattawa, and she gave us a Klondike bar. I’ve never had one before but it was pretty good. Anyways than latter we went to the Spanish Branch’s valentines party. Or rather we went on a quintuple date. It was awkward and Elder Trotter was not accepting anything. Yet not the worst date I’ve ever had.
We are having a baptism this week it’s going to be awesome. Um well enjoy these photos and have a good week.
Pues. Oh I had our second Baptism this week and a few more on schedule for the coming weeks. It’s really exciting seeing so many people try to change their life. We had a super cool experience with one of the ladies we have on date.
She had just moved from Kennewick and is staying with one of the less actives.
She had told the branch president that she wanted to be baptized. So we met with he
r and it turns out she’s be meeting with the missionaries for 6 months. It was super sweet because she just moved in completely ready to be baptized.
Anyways the dairy was fun. We saw a cow give birth
and they had like 12000 cows there. So that was exciting. Our car tire exploded yesterday after we got a few inches of snow. It was pretty sweet. Elder Trotters pretty awesome but I think he has terrets or something because he always seems to shake. Anyways he’s a good missionary and always ready to talk with the peeps.
Yay we had transfers it’s super fun. The new Elder is Elder Trotter he’s a stud. It was really funny yesterday because being fast Sunday he was super tired, so I called up our branch mission leader and we had nothing but beans for dinner he was not so happy after that. At least he got untired enough to be mad at Jorge, I still haven’t told him I put him up to it.
We didn’t get much sleep last night there were fireworks and whatever else after the SeaHawks won the Super Bowl. It was so crazy. They were up till 3 in the morning. It’s just a good thing today is P day or we’d be dead. Anyways we are going to the dairy today and having a sweet little tour! It’s going to be super good I’ll probably get some fresh milk.
Well we are having a baptism this Saturday. It’s super exciting. Enjoy these pictures of stuff. Oh yeah also I got the coolest scarf from Peru ever!! Huh well anyways have a great week!
Transfer week! It’s crazy this week was one of the fastest ever on the mission. Oh I think I know why. We had temple P-day on Wednesday last week so it actually was a shorter time since the last time I was able to email.
Well my companion, Elder Hall, got transferred to Pasco 5th and I get to stay here with my new companion Elder Troter. I hear he’s super mean. That’s ok though, I’ll whip him in to shape. Let’s take a moment and enjoy the best pictures of Elder Hall that I have… We’ll miss you Elder Hall.
Maybe Elder Troter will be good at pool so I can actually test my skills on him. It just wasn’t fun winning so hard. We had an exciting week a whole bunch more people on date and people actually came to Church!!! Honestly I don’t know why it’s so hard to go to Church. It was super good though.
Some crazy guy came up to us in Walmart and followed us around while we were shopping telling us how the Oclevict Jews run everything from the money in France to Hollywood, and also that you don’t have to pay income taxes if you don’t sign your W-4 form. It was weird I just wanted you to know.
So we decided after our baptism that we need to get a few more people on date. We had a couple amazing experiences this week with that goal in mind. We visited this one man while I was on exchanges with Elder Davis. We haven’t met with him for almost 2 months. But as we were sharing about the plan of salvation we went ahead and invited him to baptism. Before I could even finish the question he said yes about ten times and then proceeded to say that he’s been waiting all his life to find the Church of God
At this other couples house we decided to watch the Restoration video. Something was up with their TV so it was in good ole black and white. Then while we were talking about it afterwards Maria said that she would do anything to feel what she felt now again. So we invited them and we’ll now have a great family coming into the fold.
We had the opportunity to attend the Temple this morning. It was such a wonderful experience I’m sad we can only do it once every quarter. We brought our new convert Reynaldo to a lesson with us yesterday and it was one of a kind. It was a super Catholic family. Which doesn’t really mean much because we’ve talk all sortsof really active Church goers. Some just have more open hearts than others. It was going very great till we flipped out the Book of Mormon, then the couple we were teaching was like: A
Bible! A Bible! We have got a Bible, and there cannot be any more Bible. So we explaine
d a little more but then we realized they thought they could try to covert us. We were really worried about Reynaldo though because maybe that had weakened his testimony. But on the contrary he told us afterward had he had felt and then shared with us how grateful he is to have the Book
of Mormon. Then I thought to myself wow I am too. What a solid guy.
Well Saturday was the best and worst day ever on the mission.
It started when we get a text from the zone leaders at 9 about ZLC at 10:30. We scrambled to get a ride because we don’t have any miles to drive down to Othello. We got there promptly at 10:29 and there were no other cars in the Church parking lot. So we call the Zone Leaders and they say “Oh yeah ZLC is next week. Sorry.” The member looks at us with indignation in his eyes. Then after a minutes the ZL’s are like oh just kidding we’re just late. The member who gave us a ride about runs ’em over when they get out of the car and then proceeds to tell them he’s going to slash the tires and break the windows of their car! It’s nice to have members say what we can’t
The meeting was for the Leaders in our Zone. A.K.A. not me. So while they were at the meeting I was writing letters and reading Jesus the Christ and then I got a call from Reynaldo our baptismal candidate for that day. So of course I gladly answer. In that call he tells me “I don’t want to be baptized” and hangs up. AWWW! My senior companion and trainer is in a meeting and the first Baptiste of my mission flakes out on us! Thankfully not ten minutes later the branch mission leader calls. I explain to him the problem and he asks Is Elder Hall there? Well no he’s in a meeting. He hangs up. I’m freaking out.
Meeting is over we leave with our now settled down member. Zone Leader’s car only had an angry stickynote on it. We call the BML and he tells us to call Reynaldo. Reynaldo agrees to have us come over. We do and the BML is there in the house and we walk in with a frantic spirit and they are sitting on the couch laughing their little heads off. Those dratted pranksters.
We had an excellent baptismal service that evening with the best rice pudding I’ve ever tasted. Reynaldo got baptized and we confirmed him yesterday. Everyone about commented on how good they had felt the spirit.
Wow sorry that was so long. I would accompany this with pictures but we forgot our cord for the cameras. Woops
We are just so excited here in the middle of Washington. We have someone ready to be baptized this Saturday and it’s going to be a very special experience. It’s definitely really cool to see the change that comes into peoples lives when they place their faith in Christ and live the Gospel standards. We had a lot of opportunities to serve this week with fixing up the house of a less active to preparing the land for a recent converts big move. People really respond well to being served and by that I mean we had some really good meals this last week.
The thing that made the biggest difference in the conversion process of our baptismal candidate is that he started to read and pray about the Book of Mormon. He told us that after he started to do that he had a stronger desire to change and to do it again. He told us he always knew he needed to be baptized but didn’t feel ready until he knew of a surety that the Book of Mormon was the word of God.
We are looking forward for what will come out of the baptism because it’s been the first one in that branch for over 3 years. We are bringing many people to it and hopefully they can feel the sacred enabling power of the Atonement as we are there.
